Major Survey Declares Seagull Scientific
has the Most Reliable Auto ID Products

For years, we've bragged about being able to offer free technical support for our BarTender label software because it just doesn't cost that much to support. It seems that the resellers that read Business Solutions magazine agree -- they voted Seagull as having the most reliable automatic identification products in the industry. (We don’t mean just label software; we do mean the entire auto ID industry. Really.)

An Honest and Scientific Survey

As the centerpiece of their January 2009 issue, the editors of Business Solutions magazine (based in Erie, Pennsylvania in the USA) partnered with a senior statistician at Penn State University to determine the very best channel vendors according to what they say was one of the largest reseller surveys of this type ever undertaken. (Please see side bar to learn more about the survey.)

Achieving "Best Channel Vendor" Status

After tallying the votes, the editors of BSM published the scores of the vendors that rated in the top 15% in each of 15 different product categories. These vendors (including Seagull) were awarded "Best Channel Vendor" status.

Although the survey does not actually list a category called "automatic identification products," of the 15 product categories listed, four neatly include all of the products that are traditionally grouped together as "Auto ID." These are:

• Data Collection Hardware
• Data Collection Media
• Labeling Software
• Wireless & Mobility

Seagull was Voted the Most Reliable
Auto ID Company

When it was all over, Seagull Scientific got a 4.40 (out of a best possible 5.0) in the Product Reliability category. That's the very highest rating in any performance category that Business Solutions magazine's readers gave to any of the 35 companies that made it to the "best 15%" level in the four "auto ID" product categories! (If you do some very quick math based on the 15% figure, you can estimate that more than 200 auto ID companies were evaluated!)

BSM only published the results for the best three performance categories for each company. Summarizing Seagull's published grades, we received:

• 4.40 for "Product Reliability. " (The very best score achieved by any of the 35 auto ID companies in any of the 7 performance categories.)
• 4.19 for "Product Features. " (The second best score listed in this product category for the 35 companies.)
• 4.06 for "Service/Support." (Fourth best listed for the 35 companies.)

All three grades published for Seagull were the best grades listed for a label software company in each of those performance categories.
