Understanding the Two BarTender 8.01 Service Releases

Our last major software release was BarTender 8.0 on March 21st, 2007. Since then, two smaller service releases (using version "8.01") have been available for free download. Some details follow.

Some New Features with Version 8.01 (SR1)

BarTender version 8.01 service release 1 ("SR1") was released on June 22, 2007. This was build #2153 and the first service service release for BarTender 8.0. It introduced a number of new features and some miscellaneous bug fixes:

• Translations: Content that was new in version 8.00 was not translated until now
• Font sizes greater than 720 points now supported
• SAP AII XML compatibility
• "Silent install" option now supported
• Binary encoding option for QR and MicroQR code
• New USPS 4-state customer barcode
• Some minor bug fixes

Microsoft-Certified Vista Compatibility with Version 8.01 (SR2)

Version 8.01, service release 2, is build #2160 of BarTender and was released on July 11, 2007. As explained in our recent Vista Certification News Flash , BarTender has been compatible with Windows Vista since January of 2007. Now, with Service Release 2, our Vista compatibility has been formally certified by Microsoft. The only difference relative to Service Release 1 is one minor change we were required to make to the Install program.
