New Printer Models (February and April)
Support has been added for a variety of the latest printers from cab, Citizen,
Datamax, Intermec, SATO and Zebra.
Expanded
RFID Printer Support (February and April)
-
UCODE EPC 1.19 tag support added for Monarch and Avery Dennison printers.
-
EPC Gen 2 tag support added for printers from Avery Dennison, Intermec (IPL),
TEC and Zebra (ZPL).
Please refer to the
table on our web page showing all currently supported RFID models and
standards.
Printing Preferences Offer Enhanced Multi-user Capabilities (April)
-
Printing “Preferences” are now saved from one terminal services session to the
next (including on Citrix). Previously, due to a shortcoming in Terminal
Services, there were situations where the driver settings would not be
maintained between sessions.
-
Preferences may now be optionally shared among all users on a network.
-
Printing preferences may now be shared between all documents. Changes made from
within the Window Printers Folder to the default printing preferences will then
take precedence over any settings saved with the document.
-
Improved network security support allows system administrators to restrict
which users may modify printing preferences.
Support for Improved BarTender Export Functions
for Code 128 and UCC/EAN-128 (April)
The following bar code capabilities were already a part of BarTender’s normal
Code 128 support. The functionality has now been extended to include
BarTender-generated printer code templates (PCTs). (A PCT is special printer
code that is output from BarTender and then modified by and printed under the
control of other software.)
-
When exporting printer code templates containing Code 128 bar codes from
BarTender 7.74 (and higher), the printer driver can now make optimal use of any
fixed Code 128 code set modes or auto encoding modes supported by the printer.
-
With UCC/EAN 128, the initial FNC1 character will now be included when
appropriate.
-
When printing UCC/EAN-128, the printer driver will now take advantage of
printers that support formatting the human readable with parentheses and/or
spaces.
Enhanced Cutting and Media Handling
(April)
New or improved media handling features have been added to numerous printer
families. While these features are available to any application that prints
from Windows, they were written so you can take particular advantage of them
from BarTender.
Please see
BarTender’s new features page from this newsletter for more details on
enhanced cutting and media handling.
