BarTender Shows Off Slimmer Physique,
but it’s What’s Inside that Really Counts!

Improvements to our BarTender packaging mean lower shipping and inventory costs for Seagull and its resellers. Inside the thinner box, the contents have also been consolidated and are now provided in translated form when appropriate, resulting in a simpler, more welcoming experience for new users. Finally, we’ve added some labeling outside the box that will help interested resellers more easily track their inventory and shipments.

Thinner Box
Most of you probably already noticed that we redesigned the BarTender box into a slimmer format earlier this year. Although the boxes represent a direct cost-savings to us of only a few pennies, at half the thickness of our previous box, storage is obviously a lot easier for us and our resellers. Although the overall package weight has been only modestly reduced, the “dimensional” weight calculations used by most shipping companies yield a significant savings in freight charges for multi-packed BarTender shipments.

Consolidation of Miscellaneous Documents
Having already shrunk the packaging, we have, with the release of BarTender 7.5, simplified the contents as well. Although we still ship a CD, and the Getting Started manual is about the same size, established resellers will likely remember that the BarTender package also contained a number of photocopied supplemental documentation sheets covering a variety of miscellaneous topics. Frankly, they did not all adhere to the same formatting style and were not in general the prettiest things we’ve ever made. A few of these have now been eliminated through improvements to the BarTender installer and the rest have been consolidated into a single new, much more attractively presented “Quick Start” sheet. The only other item is a card with the Product Key Code that users need in order to “Activate” their software.

Better International Support
Because we consolidated the supplemental documentation, we are now (on request) able to offer both the Quick Start guide and Product Key Code card with their contents translated into any of the 23 languages supported by BarTender. (Although BarTender and the Getting Started manual have long been translated, none of the supplemental documentation sheets had previously been.)

More Helpful Labeling Allows Easier Tracking
In response to popular request from our resellers, we now include, on the outside of the box, a bar-coded serial number that allows interested resellers to record and track the serial number for each copy of BarTender without having to open the box.
