Seagull Scientific Completes Windows Drivers for cab printers
BELLEVUE, WA, USA—June 14, 2000—Seagull Scientific, Inc. has the most powerful
and full-featured Windows® drivers available for the
cabProdukttechnik GmbH & Co KG line of thermal printers. They install
quickly and allow any program running on Windows 2000, NT, or Windows 95/98 to
easily print to cab Apollo and Gemini printers located anywhere on a user's
network. The drivers' user-interface can display in any of nine international
languages, including German, with support increasing to over 20 languages later
in 2000. Seagull Scientific produced the first true Windows drivers for thermal
printers and is currently the world's largest such developer. Drivers can be
downloaded for free from www.seagullscientific.com or installed from the CD for
BarTender, Seagull's software package for desktop and enterprise-wide label
printing. BarTender, used together with Seagull drivers, can take advantage of
a variety of powerful cab printing features not ordinarily available using
standard Windows programs or printer drivers.
Thomas Rudolphi, cab technical manager comments, "I would like to tell
you how much I like your drivers. Their implementation/operation is, on the one
hand, very clean and clear; yet, on the other hand, you have really built in
wonderful features."Seagull makes the only Windows printer drivers with both a
"standard" and "enhanced" printing mode. Although conventional Windows
programs normally print using standard mode Windows drivers, this does not
allow access to certain high-performance features built-into thermal printers.
In contrast, when BarTender prints, Seagull drivers automatically switch to
their "enhanced" mode to take advantage of a printer's full-range of available
features. In cab printers, this includes use of the printer's built-in,
high-precision bar codes, as well as maximum printing speed using automatic
serialization and the ability to store and reuse non-changing label data and
graphics in the printer. By controlling BarTender using ActiveX Automation or
command line parameters, users can even access these powerful "BarTender-only"
features from within other programs. Seagull's Data Detector integration tool
even allows BarTender label jobs to be launched from non-Windows programs
located remotely on a network.
According to Don Ray, president of Seagull Scientific, "Adding a major European
printer manufacturer, such as cab, to our growing list of supported
printer families reflects our ongoing commitment to enhancing our position as
the world's preeminent developer of thermal printer drivers."
