How to Upgrade BarTender

Fast and Easy!

Depending on the type of upgrade you need, you can be using your new version of BarTender in as little as 10 minutes.

• Minor version updates can be downloaded for free anytime.
• If you registered your original software purchase, your reseller can usually get a major upgrade on the way to you the same day you order it.  (See below for details on even quicker upgrade options.)

Understanding the Three Types of Upgrades

• Version Updates: Get the latest BarTender features by updating to the most recent version number.
• Edition Upgrades: Step up to a more advanced edition of BarTender.
• Printer Add-ons: Increase the number of printers that can be used by any of the three Enterprise editions of BarTender.

Minor Version Updates are Free!

As long as the first two digits of your version are the same as the latest version, then you can download a "minor" version update right now. For example, going from version 7.71 to version 7.75 is a minor update. These updates are free and do not require you to contact anybody. Simply

download the latest "Trial Edition"

from Seagull's website and install it on the same PC that you are already using for BarTender.  (This Trial Edition download page also shows you what the version number is for the latest BarTender.)

You do not need a new Product Key Code (PKC) for a minor version update because your newly installed BarTender will detect when a valid PKC code is already in place.

Major Version Updates, Edition Upgrades, and Printer Add-Ons

Seagull maintains a large international network of loyal, hardworking resellers. Most will appreciate the opportunity to help you with major updates and other paid upgrades. We thank you for working with your BarTender reseller when possible.

Product Information Required from You

For major version updates, edition upgrades and printer add-ons, the following is required:

1. Proper Registration: Your software must be properly registered. If you did not already register your software, upgrade processing may be delayed by as much as 24 hours. You can register right now at:

2. Product Key Code: To find your Product Key Code or Serial Number:
   • For single Licenses of BarTender (version 7.5 or greater): Your Product Key Code (PKC) will be found on the inside cover of the artwork for your CD.
   • For Multiple Licenses of BarTender (version 7.5 or greater): A separate card that came with your CD will contain multiple PKCs.
   • For Licenses of BarTender (prior to version 7.5): Your serial number label will be found on the inside front cover of your “Getting Started” guide.
3. Your Version number and Edition: Please go to the Help menu within BarTender and select the About option. Write down the edition name and version number for later reference when ordering your upgrade.

Receiving your New Product Key Code

To get the new PKC required to activate your upgrade, you will need to:

• Provide the product information described above.
• Explain which type(s) of upgrades you want.
• Make arrangements for payment.

Once your payment method has been approved, you will be provided a new PKC number. At the same time, your old PKC number will be disabled in our master Activation server. (This will prevent you from performing future installs of the already-existing copy of your software.)

Getting your New Software Right Away!

Unless you request otherwise, a new CD and a printed copy of your product key code will be shipped to you. However, you do not need to wait for that to arrive to start using your new software! Simply

Download the latest "Trial Edition"

from Seagull’s website and install it. You will already have received your new PKC over the phone (or by e-mail) and you will therefore be ready to enter it into your software when asked. And then, happy labeling!
